A sworn court statement is a statement issued by the court, where a person, can swear before the court that the translation they made was done in good faith. Before the introduction of Law N. 45(I)/2019, which provides for the registration and regulation of the services of the Sworn translator in the Republic anyone submitting a document in court and any other public service was required to provide a sworn court statement. After the introduction of the law, a certified translation issued by a sworn translator no longer needs to be sworn before the court, as the aforementioned law provides the legal framework for a sworn translator appearing in the Registry of Sworn Translators.

An affidavit is a written statement in which the signer or “affiant” verifies that the document is true. They differ from sworn oaths only in that the relevant parties must sign them instead of swearing them out loud. The person swearing to this written statement is called the affiant.

An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the signature of a public official on a document for use in another country. The Apostille does not validate the contents of the document. A sworn translator does not provide Apostilles, however, we can translate any Apostille certifying the authenticity of your original document, into the target language of your choice.

Stamp duty is the extra charge of 2,00 EUR all sworn translations have. Each sworn translation has a unique stamp bearing the seal of the Republic of Cyprus, which costs 2,00 EUR. Therefore, any additional copy of a sworn translation costs 2,00 EUR.

A certified translation contains a signed statement certifying that the final document has been translated in good faith by the translator. It does not bear the seal or stamp of the Republic of Cyprus and cannot be used for public administrative purposes within the Republic of Cyprus.

A sworn translation is a translation issued by a translator registered in the Registry of Sworn Translators who may issue certified translations pursuant to the provisions of Law N. 45(I)/2019.

According to the relevant information by the Press and Information Office in Cyprus regarding documents submitted for review, Certified Translators may charge the content review as a regular translation for each page that contains more than three (3) mistakes.
