We wish that the story behind had a more complex or inspiring meaning to it, but metafrastis is simply the transcription of the Greek word μεταφραστής, which means translator. Although it is a simple word, its choice was strategic. Through meticulous SEO research and a decade of collected Google Analytics data, metafrastis emerged as a top search term in Cyprus and Greece.
With the fast development of the internet over the past decade and the widespread adoption of English as the language of information research online, more and more users are opting to search in English or even in Greeklish – the phonetic transcription of Greek words using the Latin alphabet – either for convenience or even due to the lack of spelling rules in Greeklish.
Languages are themselves living organisms. They constantly change and evolve. With our choice of a Greeklish name, we recognize the effect it has on the digital landscape and, therefore, are utilizing it to reach more people.
Behind the Logo
Our emblem tells a story of unity, precision, and cultural resonance. Crafted from vibrant, interlocking circles, it symbolizes the harmonious fusion of diverse languages and cultures. Just as a translator meticulously pieces together information, our logo seamlessly blends multicolored segments to form a cohesive whole.
The intention was to use colors representing each language spoken by our translators. The graphic design team performed an extensive research on the specific HEX codes used on each flag, i.e France, Greece, the UK and the USA all use different hues of the color blue. Once all the data was gathered, the team decided which colors worked better together and created the logo. Each hue, meticulously chosen to represent the languages spoken by our team, reflects our commitment to authenticity and inclusivity.
In hindsight, the colors are almost identical to the ones used on the Olympic flag, with the addition of orange, which appears on the Cypriot flag.
